A.J. graduated from the Danish Academy of Art in 1927. That year he designed his first house. During the thirties he designed an impressive series of remarkable buildings and during his late period, A.J. established his name and reputation as one of the leading architects in Europe.

The National Bank in Copenhagen was A.J.´s final triumph. As a furniture designer, A.J. is best known for his famous designs of laminated veneer chairs. Best known designs such as "07", The Ant", "The Swan" and The Egg" have earned international recognition. A.J.´s genuine wicker and cane chairs were originally made in Denmark. The chairs are now manufactured in Indonesia and the Philippines where this level of crafmanship is still an appreciated and honoured occupasion.

The photo of Arne Jacobsen´s "House of Future" was taken in Forum, DK-Copenhagen in 1929. Arne Jacobsen was awarded a first prize for this design and it became the start of his career as an architect.

The Paris-chair, which Arne Jacobsen had designed 4 years earlier, is seen at the bottom of the photo to the left.
